So here it is – the Winter Palette Spring Wardrobe – and my first post!
The idea behind this is three-fold
1. It’s a capsule wardrobe. In other words, if you have all these pieces, you shouldn’t need anything else. (Okay, accessories, underwear, swimwear, workout wear and pyjamas excluded, but there are lots of shoes – because who doesn’t love shoes!)
2. It’s for a Winter Palette. According to the book where this concept originated, “Colour Me Beautiful”, ‘the “winter” person usually has cool undertones to his/her skin, and the skin is either pale and translucent, or olive-toned. Eye colour in a “winter” is typically black, blue, light grey, or light green. Contrast is the hallmark of a “winter”, and the associated colour palette is rich with stark colors that really pop against a blue-undertone skin.’
3. It’s affordable. I always look for items under $50. The bonus is that you should have at least some of the items in your cupboard already – black trousers, a white button down blouse, a pair of jeans, black heels and possibly a denim jacket can be found in most wardrobes!
4. Make it your own! Don’t like one of the tops – switch it for something you love (just stick to the
colour palette). Never wear skirts? Switch it for another pair of trousers, or capris (I love capris!) Live somewhere where Spring is still cold (hello Scotland) or boiling hot (can anyone say “Florida”?) then go for items better suited to your climate. 🙂
The whole purpose of this is to show you how to build an awesome wardrobe that suits you, and where you can build lots of different outfits from a set of basics. I haven’t worked it out, but I think you could probably pull off more than 100 outfits with these 38 items, which, if you ask me, is fabulous economy! And, of course, each season, as you build up your wardrobe, you get to mix, match and love even more!
